In an effort to bring more layers of hop flavor to our 117 Pale Ale we’re tweaking the hops a bit. I originally was using Cascade, Centennial and Chinook in equal parts. The result is a wonderfully classic American hop character. The beer has notes of citrus and pine layered on the pale/oaty base. I decided to swap out the Centennial for Columbus. This should bring a dankness that’s not found otherwise in this beer. Centennial is a classic hop but it doesn’t bring a whole lot to the table that Cascade already does in this beer. Columbus (CTZ or Columbus, Tomahawk, Zeus) is an under-appreciated hop in today’s world that’s readily available and full of character. I’m looking forward to the release of this, should be out next week some time.

Cheers!
